Athletes across the country are rejoicing in the relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions which now allow high school athletes to compete against other participating schools in scrimmages in baseball. Hotchkiss High School and Cedaredge were scheduled to play in Cedaredge on July 1 with other scrimmages set to be played later in the weeks to come.
Hotchkiss High School’s head baseball coach, Blake Carlquist, released a few restrictions the two teams will use during their scrimmage against Cedaredge. According to Carlquist there was to be a 20-pitch limit per pitcher in a single inning and once that limit was reached for each team, we will switch innings. Carlquist estimated the scrimmage was to last seven innings or so.
Hotchkiss and Delta had tentatively set a scrimmage date for Friday, July 3, in Delta at 6 p.m.
Cedaredge and Delta are set to play on Tuesday, July 7 at 6 p.m. at Delta High School.
