Delta High School SoccerThis past week, the Panthers had two games, both resulting in a loss.

The team played Basalt on Aug. 24 with a final score of 3-0. The team also faced Glenwood Springs on Aug. 28 with a final score of 5-0.

Coach Elaine Wood said the team had several opportunities to score, but wasn’t able to find the back of the net.

“As we face each opponent, each player on our team, from the experienced to the brand-new players are showing on the field how they are improving in their skills and their knowledge of the game,” she said. “The team is working hard at practices, and we hope that this carries over onto the field at each of our games.”

This is a rebuilding year, Wood said. What this means is that the coach is trying players in different situations. Each opponent is a new experience for most players, Wood continued, so the team will learn and grow from each game.

Stats for this team will be updated in the coming week.

The Panthers play again 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, at Montrose.
