Delta High School’s swim team outdueled three other teams at last Friday’s (Feb. 19) Gunnison Invitational. The Panthers scored 433 points to outdistance Montrose (397), Gunnison (395) and Pagosa Springs (335). The following results represent the top 10 places for Delta High School.

Delta picked up two first place finishes at the meet, including Jillian Carlson’s win in the 100 Breaststroke (1:13.72) and the 200 Medley Relay (2:16.64).

Madyson Hannegrefs (50 Free, 28.80)) and Carlson (500 Free, 6:07.94) earned second place points for Delta with Hannegrefs (100 Breast, 1:22.06), Jaylena Gibson (200 Individual Medley, 3:03.32) and the 200 Free Relay team finishing third for Delta.

Karlie Egging (100 Back, 1:23.11) and the 400 Free Relay team (5:00.55) placed fourth on Friday with five Delta swimmers placing fifth in the 50 Free (Paris West, 30.76), 100 Free (Brooklynn Mininger, 1:12.25), 200 Free (Mininger, 2:48.89), 500 Free (Adair Ela, 8:08.57) and the 400 Free Relay (5:29.24) events.

Gibson (100 Free, 1:13.79), Alyssa Bayles (200 Free, 2:49.76) and the 200 Medley Relay (2:39.72) placed sixth.

Seventh place finishers included Egging (50 Free, 31.66), Hadassah Payne (100 Free, 1:17.68), Harlyn Gray (100 Back, 1:33.59) Payne (100 Breast, 1:41.63), Ela 200 Free, 2:58.28 and the 200 Free Relay (2:24.84).

Brianna Hall was eighth in the 100 Back in a time of 1:34.89 and Bailey Miller was ninth in the 100 Breast, 1:47.70 and the 200 Free, 3:23.01.

Two Delta swimmers finished 10th, Cecelia Houseweart (200 Free, 3:23.01) and Isabella Beilfus (50 Free, 33.39).
