This year's Delta Intermediate 50/70 All-Star baseball team has earned the title Colorado State Champions after winning the Colorado State Tournament held in Thornton at Northern Lights Ball Fields.

Delta, entering the tournament as the District 1 champion, had to defeat District 2 North Metro, and District 5 Colorado Springs to earn the title and move on to Texas where it will begin the next round of competition and represent Colorado.

The team will have the honor of representing the state of Colorado in the Little League Southwest Region tournament, which includes teams from Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

Delta will be looking to continue its winning ways in Houston when it takes the field again.

Colorado opens play, in the double elimination tournament, against Texas East July 19 at 4 p.m. and is the second game of the tournament. Game one is between Oklahoma and New Mexico at 1 p.m.

Texas West awaits the winner of Oklahoma/New Mexico on July 20 (10 a.m.) while Louisiana takes on the Colorado/Texas West winner at 1 p.m. the same day.

Games are scheduled through July 24 with the Southwest Regional title game set to be played at 7 p.m.
