Winning the final four volleyball matches of the regular season wasn’t enough to bring Hotchkiss High School’s record up to playoff level standards in RPI rankings. The Bulldogs ended the regular season with a 9-14 record (45th RPI). Thirty-two teams receive playoff berths.

Hotchkiss faced Rangely High School in the Nov. 1 first round district game in Meeker and scored a 2-0 win. The Bulldogs made it two in a row with their 2-0 win over Caprock Academy in game two on Nov. 1. Hotchkiss kept the winning ways in its 2-0 win over Rangely on Nov. 2 and finished tournament play with a fourth straight 2-0 win against Hayden later in the day on Saturday.

Senior Shay Glaser had a 28-kill tournament for the Bulldogs with 12 kills on Friday and 16 on Saturday. Sophomore Lottie Hollembeak had 10 kills in Friday’s two games.

Senior Dana Kiel had big numbers in serve receiving for the tournament with a total of 102 in four games played. Senior Elsie Vazquez finished with 72 receptions and Hollembeak recorded 34.

The Bulldogs had a 26-24 win in their first game of the tournament and used that momentum to play with confidence throughout the rest of the tournament.
