Hotchkiss High School's wrestling team wrestled five duals in last weekend's Meeker Duals. The Bulldogs defeated Palisade 36-24 and Hayden 40-30 with losses to Grand Valley 42-33, Moffat County 42-36 and Olathe 45-33.
Against Palisade the Bulldogs picked up wins with Traycer Hall at 152 by fall; Ethan Guy at 160 by fall; Jace Peebles at 170 by forfeit; Sam Ware at 195 by fall; Dakota Shelden at 220 by forfeit; and Christian Matus at 285 by forfeit.
Starting at 126 pounds against Grand Valley, the Bulldogs got their first win at 152 with Hall winning by an 11-6 decision; Guy won by fall at 160; Peebles won by forfeit; Ware won by forfeit at 195; Shelden won by forfeit at 220; and Robert Cochran won by forfeit at 120.
Hotchkiss' next match was with Olathe with competition beginning at 132 pounds. JD Miller gave the Bulldogs their first win in the 145-pound match in a 4-3 decision over Daniel Gray. Guy won by fall in his 160-pound match with Ware (195), Shelden (220) and Christian Matus (285) winning by forfeit. Cochran won his 120-pound match by fall to make the final score 45-33.
Hotchkiss' match against Hayden began in the 113-pound weight division. Cochran was a forfeit winner at 120 pounds with the Bulldogs picking up momentum in the middle and upper weights with Miller scoring a major decision (11-0) at 145, Hall winning by forfeit at 152, Guy scoring six in a fall at 160, Peebles winning by forfeit at 170, Shelden winning by forfeit at 220 and Matus winning by forfeit at 285 for a final score of 40-30 in Hotchkiss' favor.
Hotchkiss' match with Moffat County began in the 120-pound weight division. The Bulldog's first points came on Cochran's forfeit win at 126 followed by forfeit wins from Miller (145) and Hall (152). Ware (195), Shelden (220) and Matus (285) all scored wins by forfeit in a 42-36 loss to the Bulldogs of Moffat County.
