Hotchkiss High School had wrestlers in all weight divisions at last weekend's CHSAA 2A Region 1 competition in Montrose. The Bulldogs finished the tournament with 168 points to place second and crowned three individual champions, junior Robert Cochran (120 pounds), junior Traycer Hall (152) and senior Jace Peebles (170). Hotchkiss also had two runner-ups, senior JD Miller (145) and Christain Matus (285). There were three fourth place finishers for the Bulldogs, including junior Anthony Schanlon (106), sophomore Justin Mattison (182) and freshman Sam Ware (195). Senior Ethan Guy finished fifth at 160 pounds.

Cochran (36-13) won his 120-pound weight division with a 7-21 decision over Hayden's Kyler Campbell and Hall (40-6) was a winner by fall (3:34) over Soroco's Kody Logan. Peebles faced league foe Ty Walck of Cedaredge for the 170-pound title with Peebles scoring a fall (5:16) to claim the title.

Miller (36-8) met Cedaredge's Adrian Nieto for the 145-pound title with Nieto squeezing out a 2-1 decision for that title. Matus (31-11) faced Cedaredge's Derek Sanchez for the 285-pound title with Sanchez winning the title with a fall (1:05).

Scanlon (22-24) lost his third place match in the 106-pound division to Hayden's Kodi Ingols by fall (1:43) and won a fourth place match over Dove Creek's Quaden Huffaker. Mattison (25-13) was involved in third place bout in the 182-pound division against Cedaredge's Dusty Emig with Emig winning by fall (3:14). Ware (14-22) lost his third place match at 195 against Cedaredge's David Lopez by fall (0:40).

Guy (25-21) lost by fall (2:15) to Meeker's Dax Sheridan in the fourth place match in the tournament's 160-pound weight division and won by fall (1:27) over North Park's Eli Houston in a fifth place match.
