The Hotchkiss High School girls basketball team finds itself in the middle of a race with a 10-1 overall record and 5-0 in 2A/1A WSL standings. Last week’s game (Jan. 24) was played in Edwards where the Bulldogs used a 21-12 third quarter to defeat the host Vail Christian Saints by a score of 40-32.

Indigo Miller-Barnes topped Hotchkiss scorers in the game with nine points with teammates Elsie Vazquez, Lottie Hollembeak and Shay Glaser all scoring seven points. Vazquez finished the game with eight rebounds, nine steals and four blocks for the Bulldogs. McCurdy Grace scored 13 points for Vail Christian.

Hotchkiss’ boys played twice last week with an 81-35 loss to Vail Christian on Jan. 24, and a 49-43 setback to Vail Mountain on Saturday.

Jacob Palecki was Hotchkiss’ leading scorer both nights with 10 points against Vail Christian and 12 points in Hotchkiss against Vail Mountain. Bulldogs teammate Zac Ziemer added 10 points in Saturday’s loss.
