Two area youth baseball teams will be participating in state playoffs this weekend. Delta’s 50/70 Intermediate All Stars swept through Colorado District 1 playoffs with three wins to advance to the Intermediate Baseball State Playoffs at Arapahoe’s Little League Complex.
Delta kicks off its quest for a state title at 10 a.m. on July 17. The winner of that contest advances to the next round on Sunday, July 18, against the Colorado District 5 champion. Sunday’s winner moves on to the final round on Tuesday, July 20 at 5:30 p.m. while the loser takes on Saturday’s loser in an elimination game on Monday, July 19, at 5:30 p.m. to decide the two teams that will play for the state title on Tuesday.
In 11-12 play, Delta’s All Stars outscored their opponents 43-5 in four games to win the Major League Colorado District 1 championship. Delta defeated Colorado River Valley 11-0 in game one played on Monday, July 5. Tuesday’s game against Grand Mesa’s All Stars was a 15-0 win for Delta. Thursday’s 12-3 win over Monument Majors placed Delta’s All Stars in the title game against Three Rivers Valley on Saturday, July 10. Delta had its stiffest competition in the tournament against Three Rivers but managed to win the title with a 5-2 victory.
The win in District 1 play makes Delta the host team on the Monument Little League fields with first round games set for Saturday, July 17, at 10 a.m.
