Palmer, Leighton lead Eagle girls at Delta

In their first meet of the season, the Paonia girls scored 41 points to place sixth Saturday at the Delta Panther Invitational.

Among the top Paonia placers, senior Mckenna Palmer won the triple jump with a wind-assisted (3.4 meters per hour) distance of 32 feet, 4 inches. Junior Sabrina Leighton won silver in the shot put, opening the season with a personal-best throw of 33 feet, 10.5 inches.

In individual track events, Brooke Hillman finished eighth in the 200m dash with a time of 29.92 seconds. and Kassidy Rapke cleared 14 feet, 1 inch to place seventh in the long jump.

In high jump, Sadie Miller cleared 4-6 to place fifth and Natalie Reich-Rogers finished sixth with a jump of 4-6. Freshman Sadie Lee cleared 4 feet, 4 inches to finish ninth. In discus, Lauren Kiefer placed ninth with a throw of 88' 4".

The girls relay teams placed fourth in the 4x100m relay (55.70) and sixth in the 4x200 relay (2:10.54).
