Enjoying the best night in his young high school career, freshman quarterback Ty Reed would score five times. Only attempting five passes on the night, he connected on all of them. Three resulted in touchdowns. Reed finished the night with a passer rating of 177.1 and 245 total yards, 152 through the air and 93 on the ground on four carries. He also added two rushing touchdowns.
Receivers Brett Lahoe (one catch for 25 yards), Gavin Brewer (two catches for 43 yards) and Isaac Chavez (one catch for 51 yards) each hauled in one of Reed’s touchdown passes. On the ground Timmy Horn would gain 67 yards on 8 carries and scored twice. Jovanny Romero carried the ball for 40 yards on four carries and Talan Hulet added 58 yards on one carry. Each added a touchdown. Place kicker Jose Olivas was a perfect 9-9 on point after attempts.
Hunter Goff led the defense with 6 of the 50 tackles from the Panthers’ defense. The stingy Panthers defense had six tackles for losses. Easton Baier added two more sacks to his season total.
The Panthers (4-1) travel to Aspen (2-3) on Friday, Oct. 8, to continue league play. Aspen is coming off a 34-19 victory over Rifle.
