Delta's city recreation programs continue to provide softball and baseball competition for a variety of age levels for summer activities and enjoyment.
City of Delta/Bill Heddles Recreation Center's Whitney Lear recently provided an updated list of available spring and summer-time diamond activities for Delta County sports enthusiasts.
Beginning at the lower age divisions, Delta has 10 teams that are currently in the early stages of scheduled games. There are 110 youngsters from ages 4 through 6 who are registered to play. Those contests are played on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the fields south of the Rec Center.
Rookies/Machine Pitch Baseball involves youngsters 7 to 8 years old with 68 participants playing on six teams.
Little Ladies Softball (7-14 years old) has 123 players on 10 teams and Little League Baseball features 105 players on 10 teams.
In Adult League play there are eight teams playing in a Monday night Coed League with an additional five teams sharing Mondays which play in a Competitive Coed League.
Thursday nights are set aside for Men's and Women's Slo-Pitch leagues with seven men's teams and four women's teams.
The City of Delta Spring/Summer Adult Softball leagues are intended for activities for interested athletes with an age range from 15 years plus. Regular season play is from May 13 through July 11 with playoffs slated for July 11 through July 18 (depending on weather).
