A recent conversation between myself and concerned parents centered around not getting all the pertinent stories, or pictures, for an earlier sports season has prompted me to seek help from Delta County community members who follow their children, a friend’s child or is just an avid sports enthusiast.
The recent beginning of Season B athletics around the state has been a whirlwind of events for the past weeks with sporting events in basketball (boys and girls), wrestling (boys and girls) and swimming has been the focus of the Delta County Independent’s sports coverage. There has been an average of 30-plus coverage events each week that occur on four, and sometimes five days a week. With over 20 basketball games, 10-12 wrestling competitions (duals and triangular and quad meets) and one to two swimming competitions per week, the DCI Sports Department (consisting of one person for four schools) is in desperate need of assistance from anyone who has a camera, and is a regular attendee of sporting events, who is willing to share photos with the DCI.
Requirements are simple; a) take a picture of an event (preferably with a quality camera that takes a clear and sharp picture), b) identify the date of the photo and people in the photo, c) state when and where the photo was taken, and d) mention any details regarding action in the photo (what quarter, weight class or swim event and heat number). Pictures may be sent to Wayne Crick at wcrick@deltacountyindependent.com.
