Well over 50 athletes, from the fifth through eighth grade, attended the opening day of this year’s Delta County Tackle Football Camp hosted by Delta High School’s coaching staff and players. Players from all Delta County schools, and the surrounding area, were eligible to attend the camp.
Athletes had the opportunity to warm up, using the same practice routine as Delta High School’s varsity football team uses, prior to participating in drills which familiarized the young athletes with correct techniques used in the game of football.
Players went through a rotation of stations with stances, tackling, blocking just a few of the drills used. Coaches, and experienced DHS players, were at each station to provide instruction and demonstration of the various drills used during each station’s segment. Later in the opening day’s schedule, teams were organized for a scrimmage session to coordinate the drills taught earlier in the day.
The camp ran three days, July 27-29. Campers in the three-day camp received T-shirts at the conclusion of the camp.
