On April 24, the Surface Creek Seniors (SCS) celebrated birthdays at the Cedaredge Civic Center for those in the community 90 years and older. Of the several dozen attending the usual community lunch, 12 were sponsored for their birthday meal by the SCS board, along with two of their guests.
Food was made by the Senior CommUnity Meals program. These community meals take the work of several volunteers to collect payments and serve the food. The SCS is a board of volunteers which helps represent and advocate for the seniors, particularly with VOA.
An ambulance crew was also present to take blood pressure at the Senior Comm-Unity Meal. If not on call they provide this free health screening every Wednesday.
On May 1, the Cedaredge board of trustees met for a special meeting to appropriate an additional $35,000 from reserves as a loan to the golf course fund.
These funds will be used to purchased a used turf utility vehicle, a spray rig, and to make improvements to the kitchen and dining area of the restaurant.
