Susan Burk of Grand Junction died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. She was 56.
A memorial service was held Monday, Feb. 15, at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Cedaredge. Inurnment followed at Cedaredge Cemetery.
Ms. Burk was born in Denver July 30, 1959, to John "Ivan" and Ruth (Vogel) Burk. She spent her childhood and attended school in Frisco and Denver, graduating from Summit County High School in 1977. In the late 1990s she earned degrees from Colorado Christian University and Mesa State College.
She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, quilting and crafts of all kinds.
Ms. Burk is survived by her mother, Ruth Burk; her brothers, Phil (Betty) Burk, Gerald (Beverly) Burk, Darrel (Violeta) Burk and Dennis (Janna) Burk; her sisters, Annette (Mike) Anderson and Amy (Paul) Turley; her sisters-in-law, Kathy Burk and Michelle Burk; 20 nieces and nephews; and 18 great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ivan Burk; two brothers, Joe and Michael; and a sister, Peggy.

Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
