Susan Blackstock is a Colorado native who grew up on the Western Slope. From a young age she has loved capturing the essence of a person or a place in a drawing or painting. She majored in art at Western State University and also earned a degree from Bethel School of Nursing in Colorado Springs. Blackstock works in a variety of mediums including photography, pen, pencil, oil and acrylic paints. She finds working with watercolors both beautiful and very challenging. She continues to perfect her art through classes, workshops and other educational opportunities. In addition to her fine art, she is an accomplished photographer.
Blackstock says, "Creativity, lighting, composition and a subject matter one can be passionate about are important qualities in both painting and photography and skills learned in one area translate to the other."
