It seems like there is a mixed set of emotions about marijuana. Mr Ziegler made some good points as I as a Christian hope to do (letter to the editor, Oct. 31).
Yes, marijuana can be a mendicant used to ease suffering. Yes, it also has not killed anyone like alcohol when people misuse it. And that is the point. Marijuana kept in a medicinal category, I would be all for it. But, will it be kept in this one area, treated as a blessing, easing pain and suffering? Or will it be obtained by people of all ages as a hallucinogen? This is where it becomes a drug to be outlawed. As said, marijuana hasn't taken human life. It is proven that it deteriorates brainpower of our youth. And, when marijuana becomes not enough for that high, we graduate to drugs that DO take human life -- heroin and meth! You say children shouldn't do drugs until they're 21. Why should they do them at all? To depend on a hallucinogen on a regular basis is wrong, sinful.
Sorry, I'll take the drug of faith and live for my Lord and Savior and not vote for a measure that can only harm those who take it. We as Christians should beware of walking on the fence, accepting what seems okay for one value while ignoring the detriment of other uses.
