Think about the little guy

Dear Editor:

With the new law allowing grocery stores to sell full strength beer, please think about the little guy. The grocery store has a staff that is paid to order, check in, stock and sell their beer and groceries already. When they sell full strength beer, any increase in sales will result in nothing but more profit to the corporate office. There will be no increase in payroll or jobs, so there is no local monetary gain. On the flip side, local privately owned liquor stores depend heavily on full strength beer sales. The sales lost will eventually result in cuts to employee hours and loss of jobs, in addition to the loss of money retained in the local economy.

I personally know some of these store owners buy their groceries and cars locally, and use local contractors to build their homes. I know everyone says the liquor stores will survive. Everyone also said the mom and pop gas stations would survive. How many are left? Again, I ask you to please think about this when you make your beer purchases. Thanks for listening.
