Maryposa Bermudez, a kindergartner at Vision Charter Academy and a student of Cristen Chermak, was named one of 14 winners in a calendar contest sponsored by Economic Literacy Colorado and the Denver Branch of the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank.
There were over 500 entries from schools far and wide in the state, from which 14 winners were selected (one for each month of the year and front and back covers).
Maryposa's art will be replicated on the 2019 economic/financial calendar.
Both Maryposa and her teacher qualified for a $50 prize.
During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
