Former Delta resident Vera Jaunell Faries died May 23, 2018. She was 95.
She was born June 11, 1922, in Hardesty, Okla., to John and Edith (Pierce) Randles. She graduated from Hardesty High School in 1940.
On June 1, 1946, she married Roy Faries in Liberal, Kan. They spent most of their married life in Delta. Mr. Faries died in 2004, and Mrs. Faries moved to Denver in October 2017.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family, church and garden. Mrs. Faries was a member of the Delta First Assembly of God.
She is survived by her sons, Dean of Delta and Dan of Denver; granddaughter, Kitra (Jason) Willmes of Rapid City, S.D.; great-granddaughter, Emma Willmes of Rapid City, S.D.; sister, Goldie Stump of Guymon, Okla; brother, Dean (Doris) Randles of Liberal, Kan.; sisters-in-law, Bess Randles of Hardesty, Okla., and Janice Faries of Austin, Texas; and extended family.
No funeral services are planned. Burial will be in the Olathe Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
During a preliminary hearing in Delta District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Judge Steven Schultz found probable cause for second degree murder charges against Heather Jones.
Jones previously faced three counts in the shooting of Ryan Redifer in Paonia on Jan. 12, 2018 -- assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and violation of a protection order.
