This letter is to recommend Ken Watson (District 4) and Jock Fleming (District South Region) for the DMEA board of directors. I have visited with both of these candidates and believe they both have the experience and interest in keeping or lowering rates, maintaining DMEA's reliability and continuing to expand the broadband in Delta and Montrose counties.
Ken Watson currently serves on the DMEA board having been appointed to fill a vacant seat in 2018. He has been a Montrose resident since 1999 and is a graduate of Western State Colorado University. In this past year, Watson has gained an understanding of how the energy industry is changing. He believes DMEA can expand the renewable energy sources and lower the electrical rates.
Jock Fleming is a 30-year Montrose resident, business owner, and community leader. He has served 12 years on the Montrose County School Board and has served two years on the Montrose Planning Commission. Fleming believes DMEA can reduce rates and increase local jobs if DMEA were to get out of the contract with Tri-State.
DMEA is recognized as one of the most progressive and innovative co-ops in the nation. Ken Watson and Jock Fleming will continue to push DMEA forward.
Ballots for the DMEA election will be mailed out May 28.
Please join me in voting for Ken and Jock in the DMEA election.
