Dean and Ann Weaver celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary on Aug. 18, 2018.
Both were born in 1923, Dean in Austin and Ann in Delta. They met at Delta High School and had their first date attending junior prom at age 16 in 1940. Dean got to kiss Ann when he took her home that evening.
Dean enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 to serve in World War II. While Dean was on a 30-day leave, they married in Durango. They raised four children in Parker and have nine grandchildren, and so far, eight great-grandchildren.
At the age of 95, they now live in MorningStar retirement community in Lone Tree.
Harry Gilbert, Dean's cousin, adds some information about the family:
Dean's father, Russell Weaver, started the Weaver Lumber Yard in Austin in the early 1900s. Russell's wife was Mary Coffey. Coffey Road is located on Orchard City, as is the original Coffey orchard land.
Ann was a Conklin and her brother Charles was an attorney in Delta until about 1970. His office was upstairs in the present Delta City Hall.
