AC/DC has just announced its "Rising Star Talent Contest" to take place this summer. Tryouts will take place in May and June. Contestants should register as soon as possible. Three categories of competition will be by age groups -- youth category for ages 4-13, young adult, for ages 14-22 and seniors, 23 and up. The competition may be instrumental, vocal or any other type of talent, and may be individual, duets or larger groups. Groups with various age groups will compete within the senior category; groups of like ages will be in their age category.

A second round of tryouts will move the best of the acts to the finals. The finals will be made up of the top five in each category, with awards for first, second and third places. The top three in each category will receive money, scholarships or U.S. Savings Bonds, amounting to 50 percent of the profits from the tryouts and performances.

All participants should prepare at least three different pieces to perform. A panel of judges will decide the fate of each entry. The second through fifth place entries in each category will be automatically entered in next year's talent show and will not need to try out in 2020. Specific entries may have the opportunity to perform in AC/DC concerts in the future with benefits.

Come show what you've got and help promote the arts in Delta County.
