In partnership with area counties, the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests will host several public open houses on the working draft of the GMUG Forest Plan. The first of the six open house events is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 9 at Heritage Hall, 403 E. Bridge St., Hotchkiss. It is the only open house on the plan scheduled to be held in Delta County.

On June 17 GMUG released the working draft in order to for the public to provide feedback. This is not a formal draft plan or draft environmental impact statement (DEIS) comment period, which will occur later in the process. A formal comment period will occur later in the process, but feedback on the draft received by July 29 will be used to help inform the forest plan.

Additional open houses are scheduled for July 10 at the Community Center in Palisade, July 11 at the Event Center in Montrose, July 16 at the Lone Cone Library in Norwood, July 17 at the 4H Center and Fairgrounds in Ridgway, and July 18 at the Fred Field Western Heritage Center in Gunnison.
