On Sept. 9, the Crawford Area Indivisibles hosted what was hoped to be a debate between U.S. Congressional Candidate Diane Mitsch Bush and incumbent Scott Tipton. Crawford Area Indivisible believes citizens who are informed about candidates and issues are more likely to vote and, additionally, to vote with full knowledge of the political positions of the person for whom they are voting. All 60 people present at Hotchkiss High School that afternoon received a stunningly valuable education from the dynamic, smart, experienced and well-informed Diane Mitsch Bush. I don't know of one person who left Hotchkiss High School that afternoon who felt that Mitsch Bush would not work for us: for our health care and for the protection of public lands with all her might.
Diane Mitsch Bush would work for the repeal of the regressive provisions of the Trump Tax Bill that benefit only the wealthy and burden our children with punishing debt. She would invest in up to date infrastructure projects for clean water, broadband, transit systems and renewable energy. It was disappointing that those present could not get a measure of Mr. Tipton's positions on any of these issues. What was even more concerning than the no-show from Mr. Tipton, however, is that Mr. Tipton and his staff never even responded to the 11 attempts made to invite him to participate in the "debate." It is more than ironic that Scott Tipton, Congressional District 3's REPRESENTATIVE to Congress does not make an effort to truly represent us.
