William Alec Calhoun died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015, at Larchwood Inn in Grand Junction. He was 79.
He was born June 9, 1936, to Frank and Alene (Atchley) Calhoun. He graduated from Delta High School in 1954.
He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Canberra (CA-70).
Soon after his service he married Joyce Hendrickson.
Mr. Calhoun was a cattle rancher. He spent the majority of his life in southwestern Colorado.
He was a member of the Nucla Seventh-day Adventist Church where he served as an elder.
He is survived by two sons, Calvin (Leigh Anne) of Redvale and Rusty (Bobbie) of Naturita; three daughters, Lori (David) Worix of Beckley, W.Va., Shelley (Leroy) Archer of Nucla and Tonya (Joe) Gabardi of Grand Junction; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Joyce; and his sisters, Lola Hillis and Linda Williams.
Funeral services will be held at the Redd Ranches Sale Barn in Paradox Saturday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Paradox Cemetery.
