As president of the Hotchkiss Fire Board I get to see how public funding is important to maintain a group of first responders. The North Fork Ambulance is the only ambulance service in the North Fork Valley. It is responsible for 1,500 square miles over three counties. They also maintain three stations in the region. Unfortunately funding through memberships, and grants isn't a reliable way for a small community ambulance service to keep up with the demands of emergency medicine. Our tax dollars will help maintain a vital ambulance service, help attract and retain on-call crew members, and provide a high level of training required for all responders. It will help replace and update aging and obsolete equipment and an aging ambulance fleet. In conclusion I encourage North Fork voters to vote yes on ballot measure 7E and 7F.
